HISTORYThese are some of the entrants in the Hastings Day street parade on High Street, Hastings. Written on the back of the photograph in blue biro is: “26-2-94 The bullocks (No. 7) and their handlers await the “parade” entrants No ‘5 1 to 6 movement. Doug Thompson Photo”. The motor vehicle on the left is Jim Harris’ ‘Vinot’.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a street parade, with the photo taken from the back of the participants. Part of a bullock team can be seen on the right-hand side. Three men, carrying whips, are walking beside the team, down the middle of the street. Three vintage cars can be seen and a navy band is leading the parade. A banner is behind the band. People line both sides of the street. The parade is crossing a railway line which has railway crossing lights and signals. Electricity poles and wires line the street on the right-hand side. Trees line both sides of the street.
