HISTORYThese bullocks are pulling the Armstrong Gun and are the entry from the Hastings-Western Port Historical Society in the annual Hastings Day parade. This gun was one of four, 40 pound guns which came to Hastings in the 1890s because of the perceived Russian invasion threat. This Western Port Festival is held annually on the last weekend in February.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a bullock team leading a parade down the middle of a street. A man carrying a whip is walking on the right-hand side of the team. The bullock team is pulling a carriage. Several motor vehicles are travelling behind. People are lining both sides of the street. Bunting can be seen stretched across the street. The front of shops can be seen on the right-hand side. A large sign is near the footpath beside the shops. Electricity posts and wires line the street on the left-hand side.
