HISTORYThe following is printed on the back of the postcard: “STONY POINT Situated approximately 77 km from Melbourne by road and rail, Stony Point is the Port Control for Western Port Bay, through which the largest ships in the world today can navigate. DESCRIPTIONThis coloured postcard has four views of Stony Point. The top left quarter of the postcard is ‘Buoy Depot’ which consists of a large brick building with windows across the side. Buoys, boats and motor vehicles can be seen in front of the building. The view beside it is ‘Phillip Island Ferry’ with the blue and white ferry in the water. Land can be seen in the far distance. The bottom left-hand quarter of the post card is ‘Stony Point Wharf’. Jetties can be seen on either side of the image with boats beside each jetty. A small shed is at the end of the jetty on the left. Part of a Pilot boat can be seen on the left. Land is in the distance. The final view on the right-hand side shows ‘Fishing, Stony Point’ and has two fishermen sitting on a wooden jetty with fishing rods and equipment. Part of a boat and a long jetty can be seen on the right-hand side. A seagull is flying overhead. Written across the centre of the postcard is: “Greetings from Stony Point Victoria”.
