HISTORY

This is a postcard sent to Mrs M Marshall, Phillip Crt, Hastings Vic Australia and reads as follows: “11.3.99 Hi Mum, We are at Deb’s Dad’s house Busby Hall at Carlton on Cleveland its a great big house, its windy and cold but fine. went walking up on the moores today Cold & windy we are here for about 8 days then back to Debs mums and then home. Love Deb & Kev xxxx”. A post office stamp, a blue By air Mail sticker and a purple postage stamp are across the top of the postcard.

DESCRIPTION

This image is a black and white postcard displaying eight small images. At the centre is a photo of James Cook and written below is: “Captain James Cook born Oct 27 - 1728 died Feb 14 -1779 Captain James Cook. R.N. born at Marton-Yorks 1728 killed at Hawaii 1779”. The other images have their captions underneath and are as follows: “House where Captain Cook lived at Ayton: Cottage at Marton where born: Memorial urn on site where born: School at Ayton where educated: Great Ayton old church: Memorial on Easby Hill Great Ayton: Interior of school Great Ayton”.
