HISTORYThis is the Hastings War Memorial after it was re-located to the newly reclaimed foreshore in the Western Port at Hastings in the 1960s. The BHP plant is in the background. Another photograph of this image appears at P1151.58 in the J.T.Riley Collection.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a war memorial standing on a concrete surround, in the centre of the photograph. A long narrow body of water is above the memorial and land with large tanks can be seen in the background. Two parked motor cars are in the foreground, along with two tall poles. The foreshore is bare except for newly planted trees with supports around them. A flag pole stands beside the memorial. One boat can be seen at the foreshore on the left-hand side and another boat in the water on the right-hand side of the photograph.
