HISTORY

This photograph shows the first Shire President of the Shire of Hastings, Douglas Maxwell Thompson, presenting the “Belle of the Hastings Centenary Ball 1960” to Beverley Cushworth. The printing on the sash reads: “Hastings Centenary 1960”. Beverly married Max Lord of Swan Hill.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a young woman being presented with a sash by a man. She is wearing a round neck, sleeveless ball gown, elbow-length gloves, drop earrings and a wreath of flowers in her short curly hair. A large brooch/clasp holds the sash together. The man is dressed in a black suit, white shirt and black bow tie. They are both smiling and looking at the camera.
