HISTORYThis fisherman is a member of the Reid family. The original photo is in a wooden frame. The Reid family first came to Western Port to fish in September, 1871 and purchased a house in Skinner Street, Hastings. The Reid family fished in the bay for 100 years.
DESCRIPTIONThis oval image shows a heavily bearded man standing mending a fishing net. He is wearing heavy duty coat and pants and hat which is turned up at the front. Part of a sail and nets and ropes can be seen on the left-hand side of the image. He is holding net mending tools in each hand. The background is very light and indistinguishable.
