HISTORY

This soldier is Sergeant Major Fred Stockton in the A.F.A. Hastings Battery uniform. He was the son of Alfred Manks Stockton and Elizabeth Annie Woodham. He was born at Wedderburn, 05/08/1878 and died 18/04/1957. He was a Tyabb orchardist and a long serving member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church at Hastings. Written on the back of the photograph, on a sticker, in blue ink is: “Fred Stockton Hastings Battery (Geoff’s Grandfather)”.

DESCRIPTION

This is a full length image of a soldier standing, feet slightly apart. He is dressed in full uniform and is holding his gloves and a baton in his right hand. His right arm is bent at the elbow. His left arm is straight by his side. A tall, thick hedge is behind him.
