HISTORYA chimney stack has just been demolished because B.P. Oil Refinery at Crib Point closed down. Written in black on a piece of white card at the bottom is “GONE”. Printed in silver on the mounting board is “D.M. Thompson Collection”. For more details on the stack, see P493.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows thick grey smoke swirling across the centre of the photograph after an explosion. Five workmen are walking towards the site. They are wearing, or carrying helmets and all except one man is wearing blue trousers, and red shirts with printing on the back that reads: “Able Blasting The Master Blaster”. The other man is wearing a short sleeved blue shirt and white helmet. Another man, on the left-hand side, is sitting on the top of a tank taking a photo. Part of two vehicles can be seen on the left.
