HISTORY

This is the wedding of Frederick Stockton and Clara Benton. They were married in the Holy Trinity Church (Anglican) at Hastings on June 3, 1939. This information is written on a sticker in blue biro on the back of the photograph.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a bride and groom posing for a photo. The groom is sitting in a wooden carved arm chair. He is dressed in a dark three-piece suit. His white shirt has a high collar with a small bow tie. Both arms are resting on the arms of the chair. He is holding white gloves in his right hand and has an orange blossom sprig on his left lapel. His hair is parted on the left and he has a moustache. The bride is wearing an elaborate ankle length white dress with a lace bodice, high lace collar and long tight sleeves. She has a lace panel down the front of her dress. She is holding a very large bouquet of flowers in her left hand. She has a headpiece and a long veil. Her right hand is resting on the back of the chair. A tall pot plant is to the left and a rug is on the floor to the right. Part of a panelled wall can be seen behind the bride.
