HISTORYThis group is gathered beside the Hastings fishing shed. The occasion was for the Herald Learn to Swim Campaign. The children had swimming lessons every week. The girl at the front, second from the left, is Gwen Price. Beside her, third from the left is Audrey Dyall. The swimming teachers were Doug Harlow and his wife. Stamped on the back of the photograph is “2 3”. A round printers stamp in purple ink is stamped on the back and reads: “Printed by Harringtons”.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a large group of approximately twenty-five children and three adults posing for a photo beside a weather-board building. They are all dressed in swimming attire. The three adults, two men and one woman are standing in the back row. Part of a jetty with people and boat masts can be seen in the background. Written in ink at the top of the photograph is: “Hastings - 32”.
