HISTORYThis memorial on the foreshore at Hastings shows the names of those killed in WWI. Their names are: A. Bernard, L. Denham, Mat Elliot, M. Elliot, W. Hoban, F. Kerr, B. Jones, R. Laity, K. Munday, N. Nicholas, O’Shannassy, M. Romeo, L. Sparks, C. Whithead, E. Wilson. The top small black plaque reads: World War II 1939-1945. The larger black plaque reads: Served: Korea 1950-53, Malaya 1958-60, Borneo 1962-66, Vietnam 1962-73.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a section of a war memorial with inscriptions. The top section reads: “Erected by the residents of East Riding of Frankston and Hastings Shire as a tribute to the men who enlisted and in memory of those who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War 1914-1919”. The names of the men killed are printed underneath. Two other small black plaques with gold printing are in the lower section of the monument. The monument is sitting on a two-step concrete base. Green lawn is in the background and water can be seen in the far background.
