HISTORYThis memorial on the foreshore at Hastings shows the names of those killed in WWI. There names are: A. Bernard, L. Denham, Mat Elliot, M. Elliot, W. Hoban, F. Kerr, B. Jones, R. Laity, K. Munday, N. Nicholas, O’Shannassy, M. Romeo, L. Sparks, C. Whithead, E. Wilson. The top small black plaque reads: World War II 1939-1945. The larger black plaque reads: Served: Korea 1950-53, Malaya 1958-60, Borneo 1962-66, Vietnam 1962-73. The tanks in the background are for gas storage.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a War Memorial mounted on a two step concrete base and sitting on a large concrete slab. A white flagpole is to the right. Writing and plaques can be seen on the monument. Water is in the background, dotted with boats. Large tanks can be seen behind trees on the far left-hand side of the image. Green lawn is in front and behind the monument.
