HISTORYThis building is the Denham house/shop on the corner of High and King Streets, Hastings. The original Denham general store of the 1900s sold just about everything and Art Denham was also the local undertaker so customers could choose a coffin from those on display in his shop.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a line of houses and shops with a street in the foreground running across the width of the photograph. The weatherboard building on the right-hand side has a three post verandah at the front with a large sign board across the top. The peaked-roofed section on the left-hand side has a scalloped trim, windows and a door across the front and windows at the side. A long paling fence is on the left-hand side of the building and shops can be seen further along the street. Two large trees are on the footpath.
