HISTORYIn 1958, Jack and Norma Babington purchased Denham’s old store on the corner of High and King Streets, Hastings. They demolished the building and built a new shop and residence. This photograph is from the Babington Collection.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a shop frontage. The store has a glass window front with a door in the centre. There is a large display in the window with several small advertising posters attached to the window. The sign “Self Service” is above the doorway. The top section of the shop has large signage which reads: “Babington’s Foodland Store Jack Babington”. A paint shop is attached to the left-hand side of the store. A concrete footpath and bitumen street is in the foreground.
