HISTORYThis soldier was J.W. Ward. He is wearing the uniform of the Hastings Battery which was formed to protect the Western Port at the time of the Boer War. This photograph is part of the Cyril Ward Collection.
DESCRIPTIONThis is a portrait of a soldier in uniform, taken from the chest up. His uniform jacket has three large buttons and two large buttoned up front pockets. The jacket has a dark collar and epaulettes. His cap has a strap under the chin and is tilted to one side. He has a serious look on his face.
