HISTORYThis is the Royal Hotel at Hastings, built in the late 1890s. When renovations were made to the hotel, the wrought iron was turned into a fence at Lyall Street, Hastings for Clarry Mayne.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a two story building at a street corner. An intricate wrought iron verandah railing surrounds the upper floor. Four women are standing at the railing. Three chimneys can be seen on the roof top. A lantern is hanging down from the upper floor on the corner of the building. A tall post is on the road at centre front of the building. Sign boards can be seen on the walls. A horse and rider and a man in a sulky are on the left-hand side of the image. Three men and a dog are standing in front of the building. A four wheeled wagon with a driver and three horses are on the right-hand side.
