HISTORYThis ferry is the ‘Estelle Star’. It was taken to the Western Port in 1949 by Norman Hegarty. It was later converted to a tuna fishing boat and was lost at sea after a fire in 1979. This photograph comes from the Merv Crole Collection.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a double deck boat sitting in the water beside a jetty with the shore in the foreground. The boat has windows right along both decks. Two people are standing on the jetty, one dressed in white, the other dressed in black. A small crane is attached to the jetty. A small boat is tied up to the jetty on the far right-hand side. Land can be seen in the background. A dark coloured tank is visible above the boat in the centre of the image.
