HISTORYThis brochure was used by a real estate agent to sell land near the naval base at Crib Point, in the Parish of Balnarring. The Flinders Naval Depot was renamed HMAS Cerberus in 1921. The Oswin family migrated to Melbourne from Kilby, Leicestershire, England in 1945 with nine of their ten children. In the early 1860s John Oswin selected Lot 55a, Agricultural Area of Mount Macmahon, County of Mornington, Parish of Balnarring containing 139 acres.
DESCRIPTIONThis image is a photograph of a brochure. At the centre of the image is a drawing of a naval ship with an Australian flag flying. The writing on the brochure reads as follows: from top right: “Australia’s Future Portsmouth Oswin Estate fronting Flinders Naval Base 326 Magnificent Lots In the Most Coveted Positions Invest While Prices Are Low Between the Naval Base and the Future Railway Terminus”.
