HISTORYThis occasion is the cutting of the 25th birthday cake at the Hastings District Hospital Ball. The hospital was established in 1930. The lady cutting the cake is Mrs Clara Stockton (nee Benton), assisted by Cr Bert Alden. Mr Eric Clarke is the MC on the microphone. On the right front is Clarence Mayne, middle Syd Graf and behind is Lockie Peck. The ball was held at the Hastings Hall.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a woman cutting a cake, assisted by a man standing on her right. A man is standing on the far left-hand side behind a microphone. Three men are standing watching the proceedings on the right and part of a woman can be seen in the background. Everyone is dressed in formal attire and the man on the far right is wearing a ‘crown’ on his head. Large letters ‘S I L V’ are on a banner on the wall and the room is decorated with leaves and branches.
