HISTORYThis is James (Jim) Barclay the son of James Barclay and Mary Fidler. He was born in 1870. He was the Station Manager at Wonnangatta Station in Victoria’s high country where he was murdered in 1918. His murder remains unsolved. The photograph comes from the Doug Mentiplay Collection.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a young man standing beside a tree trunk, posing for a photo. He is looking slightly away from the camera. He is wearing a buttoned-up waistcoat, jacket, lighter coloured trousers and a high necked white shirt. A white handkerchief is in the left side pocket of his jacket. His right hand is resting on the stump and his left hand is in his trouser pocket. Printed across the bottom of the photograph is: “The Rembrandt Studio.”.
