HISTORY

These bottled sharks eggs were collected from Sandy Point, Western Port Bay in 1911. They belonged to the Petersen family until they were donated to the Historical Society. Mr Carl Byrant identified these eggs as being from the spotted swell shark Furgaelus ventralis (Carl is a local fisherman)

DESCRIPTION

Clear cylindrical glass bottle with narrow cylindrical neck and metal screw top lid. The bottle contains three (?) shark eggs which have been preserved in an unknown brown liquid.
