HISTORYCommemorative medal for the centenary of Victoria 1834-1934 and the centenary of Melbourne 1835-1935. This badge was one of a collection of badges and medals collected by Mrs May Cochran and consists mainly of memorabilia associated with the Great War (W.W.I) and commemorative events in the early twentieth century history of Australia and Victoria.
DESCRIPTIONCircular silver? medal embossed on both sides. One side has a sailing ship approaching a shoreline and a man landing in a dinghy. Around the top are the words "Centenary of Victoria 1934" and at the bottom "Portland 1834". The other side has the figure of a man leaning on a stick looking over the Yarra River to the Melbourne skyline. At the top are the words "Centenary of Melbourne 1935" and at the bottom is the date 1835.
