The woman is wearing a white high necked, long sleeved blouse and a long dark coloured skirt. She has a mop of dark coloured hair. The baby is dressed in a beautiful long white dress. The cottage has a four post verandah across the front. A single window with lace curtains, is on either side of the front door. A timber and wire netting fence is across the front and small shrubs are on the front lawn. Part of a clothes line is on the far right-hand side.

HISTORY

This woman is Ethel Smith nee Wheatley with her son William Harold Smith (1906-1976). She married William Crawford Smith in 1905. Ethel was born in 1883 and died in 1969. This photograph comes from the Gayne Dawson Collection and was photographed/copied by Dr Bruce Bennett for the purpose of research or publication.
