HISTORYThis dredge was used in the Western Port oyster beds in the 1850s where there were no less than thirteen boats dredging. The dredge hangs on the wall at the Hastings-Western Port Historical Society Museum. It was donated by Mr Arthur Woodley.
DESCRIPTIONThese three images show an oyster dredge lying on a piece of cloth on the grass. The photos have been taken showing three different angles of the dredge. The dredge has an iron bar, about three feet long in the form of a triangle. A ring at the upper part enables the apparatus to be attached to a rope. A hoe-shaped piece with iron rings and a net is attached.
