HISTORYThis is Mr Alfred Dennett of Somerville with the case of apples he grew. They were packed by his daughter, Miss Rosa Dennett in 1932. She was Geoff Stockton’s mother. On that particular day, she packed two cases, winning a 1st and 2nd prize. There was only one point separating the two boxes. It was the best case of export apples packed and exhibited at the Town Hall and it was sent to the King. The Town Hall would have probably been in Melbourne.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a man standing behind a large box of apples. He is holding the top of a display board that is backing the box. Printed across the top of the photo is: “APPLES FOR KING”. PRINTED ACROSS THE BOTTOM OF THE PHOTO IS: “THE BEST CASE OF EXPERT APPLES EXHIBITED AT THE FRUIT AND FLOWER SHOW AT THE TOWN HALL, WHICH WILL be sent to His Majesty the King.
