HISTORYThis postcard was donated by Mary Marshall. The following is written on the back: “Yarrawonga May 22/5/14 Dear Hughie Just a p.c. in answer to your lovely card the weather is just glorious and everything is lovely and green we have a lovely little garden seven different colouring chrysanthemums I had a letter from Sister Rene ? She said she received a letter from you we all went to a eucha ? party in the R.C. School room it was a evening for the lodge members I think we are going to Cinderella evening on Tuesday wish us a good time mother has not been too well winter coming on does not agree with her I hope you are keeping well Eunice is just as cranky as ever always making a noise She went to a variety entertainment the other night and it was a hot troop she cleared out from the company Eunice has been singing a ditty ever since with kind regards from all at home Gertie”. Also printed on the back is: “POST-CARD Made in Germany”.
DESCRIPTIONThis colour postcard shows a young woman sitting beside a post and rail fence. Her elbow is resting on the top rail of the fence and her hand is against her face. She has a ‘dreamy’ look on her face. She is dressed in a blue dress with a large pink rose on the front. Pink flowers are along the fence and water and trees are in the background. Her image, along with that of a man, is in the trees on the left-hand side of the image. The verse printed on the postcard reads as follows: “In the Gloaming. How well I remember the day dear, When you called me a bundle of charms, And told me that you loved me, As you held me in your arms.”
