This image of Melbourne shows the Yarra River with Government House in the distance. The photograph is the home page of the Multimedia Catalogue in the State Library of Victoria. It was purchased by the Hastings-Western Port Historical Society. Library Record Number: 1056357. Accession Number: H96.200/701.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a river winding through a city. Trees line both sides of the river banks. Railway wagons, tracks and buildings can be seen. Part of a statue is in the foreground. A very large building with a tower is in the far right-hand corner of the image. A horse-drawn wagon is on the street. Printed in white across the bottom of the image is: “River Yarra & Government House”.
