HISTORYThis is a photograph of Alice Maud Mary Perrott (nee Hardingham). Alice planted the historic “Perrott Tree” in Marine Parade, opposite the Hastings Shire Offices, to mark the coronation of Edward VII. Alice was born on 21 November, 1854 at Brighton, Victoria. She was the daughter of Henry Hardingham and Harriet Hardingham (nee Douglas). The family lived at Honeymoon Farm on Stumpy Gully Road, Hastings/Bitten, Victoria. Alice died at Hastings on 25 November, 1940 and is buried in the Hastings Cemetery.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a woman sitting on a wooden bench seat. She is holding a book in her right hand and her left arm is draped over the back of the chair. She has a plain skirt and an embroiled jacket. Lace is tied at the high neck line. Her hair has a center part and is pulled back severely. Printed in silver across the bottom of the mounting board is: “Yeoman & Co.” and ‘Prahran’.
