HISTORY

This series of four photographs were taken at Fort Queenscliff, Victoria about 1882. It shows four or more Armstrong 40-pounder guns lined up with crews on the cliff top. Exercises involving the guns and about 400 men from the volunteer Garrison Artillery were undertaken in Easter 1882 and 1883.

DESCRIPTION

These four photographs show several field carriages with guns, spread across open ground, with service men standing to attention beside them. Buildings, a lighthouse, tall flagpole and a large group of people behind a wooden fence can be seen.
