HISTORYThis marker was placed by Ray Grant, in 1984 to mark the spot where a tree, ‘Cedris Atlantica Glauca’,
was planted when Harriet Benton departed from the Tyabb State School for Mildura. Harriet named the tree ‘Mildura 1908’. Ray Grant was one of her pupils.
This image shows a metal plaque attached to stone. The plaque reads: “Shire of Hastings Historical Society Marker No. 2 Cedrus Atlantica Glauca named “MILDURA 1908’ by Harriet Benton on her departure that year for Mildura. Planted in the presence of her Tyabb S.S. 3129 pupils, one of whom, Ray Grant, placed this marker in 1984.”
