HISTORYThis marker was placed by Eileen Maslen to mark the Union Church and School in the original town of Somerville which was built be settlers in 1864.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a metal plaque attached to stone. The plaque reads: “Shire of Hastings Historical Society Marker No. 4 The Union Church and School built by settlers in 1864 was located here in the original town of Somerville on one acre of land purchased as a gift by Alfred Jones, James Clarke and James Grant. Marker placed in 1985 by Eileen Maslen, present owner of Grant’s 1859 residence”.
