HISTORYThe couple in the boat are Jean and Edgar Slocombe. They are hauling in Blake’s Channel. The Slocombe family came to Tyabb in 1890 and purchased 30 acres of land behind where the Tyabb Post Office stands today. They planted an orchard of apples and pears. They also had dairy cows and beehives. They named their property “Oaklands”.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows part of a wooden fishing boat, with the back view of a woman and a man working with fishing nets. The woman has fair curly hair, a short sleeved dark coloured shirt, light coloured pants and high waders. The man is wearing a hat and light coloured long sleeved jacket and pants.
