HISTORY

The woman wearing the war medals is Myrtle Ingram. She is a Hastings resident. The medals belonged to her husband George Ingram. He received a Victoria Cross medal in WW1 and was the last person to receive one. This medal was sold by his son Alex Ingram on 27 May, 2008 for $468,000.00 to be displayed in the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. The woman on the left is Shirley Davies, who was the President of the Hastings-Western Port Historical Society.
