HISTORY

This group of men are all ex-Captains of the Hastings Fire Brigade. They are as follows: l. to r. Cyril Ward, Steve Filmer, Harry Gibson, John Spence, Bob Mayne and Alan Pridgeon. The Hastings Fire Brigade was formed on 23 November, 1942 at the Hastings Hall. The original fire station was a small building located on the foreshore. Later land was purchased in King Street, Hastings and this building was completed in 1956. The Brigade located to a new building in High Street, Hastings in 2002.
