HISTORYThe Hastings Bakery as well as the Hastings Hall were used for Hastings Shire Council offices until the Shire Offices were built in 1963. The Bakery was on the south east corner of High and Salmon Streets. The Bakery was then used for a short period as a Library. The old shop on the left was used as a Work Depot and was occupied by Vaughn Harris, Health Inspector, Tom Holland, Storeman and J. Bagley, Works Superintendent.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a small wooden shop with a two post verandah at the front and the word “BAKERY’ in large print on the roof. One woman is standing in the doorway and another two women are standing on the footpath beside the shop. Another small wooden building is on the left-hand side of the bakery separated by a wooden fence. The corner post and the word “Sails” is in the foreground. A sign which reads “H.M.A.S. Cerberus Flinders Naval Depot is on the corner.
