HISTORY

This photograph shows the BP area at Crib Point before the building of the oil refinery commenced in 1963. The refinery was officially opened on 21 October, 1966 and was demolished in 1985. The island is Sandstone Island.

DESCRIPTION

This aerial photograph shows a shoreline with a bay in the upper half and land in the lower half. An island is in the middle of the water. A township can be seen on the far right-hand side. Roads and paddocks cover the land. A small piece of white paper with ‘BP Area’ typed in black is at the top of the image. The printers details are along the left-hand side.
