HISTORY

These shops are being built on the corner of Victoria and High Streets in Hastings.

DESCRIPTION

The sign at the front of this construction site reads as follows: “For Sale or To Let 7 Modern Brick Shops with or without Dwellings Shortly to be erected on this corner site For full details contact sole agent John G. Crowder & Son 60 Young St. Frankston & 61 High Street Hastings”. Two workmen can be seen on the top of the building and one man on the ground beside a cement mixer. A large electricity pole is beside the footpath and a street with gravel sides is in the foreground. Typed in black on a piece of white paper and glued to the bottom of the photograph is: “New shops South West corner of Victoria & High Streets 1965”.
