The French family were Hastings locals, Mrs Elsie French working actively in the community with several service organisations such as the Red Cross, Country Women’s Association, Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind, St Johns Ambulance, RSL Women’s Auxillary, Girl Guides and Hastings Ambulance Association
