HISTORY

This photo was taken in High Street, Hastings and the couple are Jack and Norma Babington. They were celebrating the 21st year of the Hastings Day celebrations. Jack Babington was elected as a Councillor of the Hastings Shire Council in 1960, a position he held until his retirement in 1989. This term of office included three as Shire President.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a happy couple dancing on the footpath outside a line of shops. The man has a white cap on his head, striped shirt and an apron. The woman has a floral dress, brown hair and is wearing spectacles. A sign on a motor vehicle in the background reads: “Two Bays Tuckerbag”. Other shop signs read: “First National Coffee Shoppe Hastings Fruit Supply 791340 Lindens”. A boy and girl are watching the couple on the far left-hand side of the image.
