HISTORY

This is the Armstrong gun of the Hastings Ham & Beef Battery (1890-1904) found at Colac Botanical Gardens in 1983 and returned to Hastings for restoration in late 1987. It was restored by 1994. It is on display in the Hastings Museum. Information on the back of P681.2 says that the granite roller is a stonemasons master piece.

DESCRIPTION

These five images show the Armstrong Gun, field carriage and limber in different locations. A sign attached to a chain wire fence beside an open gate reads as follows: “One of the guns of the famous Hastings Battery 1890-1904 located recovered & restored by local historians. The only complete 1862 model known to exist”.
