HISTORYThe man on the left is Jack Babington. He opened a small hardware store in 1946 and in 1958 he and his wife Norma, opened the first self-service hardware and grocery store on the Western Port side of the Mornington Peninsula. He held a position in the Hastings Shire Council from 1960 to 1989. The other man is a “Rinso” rep who was visiting the store.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows two men, facing one another, holding onto a piece of paper. The man on the left is wearing a long white apron. The man on the right is wearing a suit. A shop counter and boxes and bottles of shop supplies are on the floor and on shelves behind the couple.
