HISTORYThe packing shed was situated behind the Hastings Cool Store in Cool Store Road, Hastings. Hastings, together with Tyabb and Somerville, were thriving fruit growing areas.
DESCRIPTIONThis image shows a large timber building with a double gable and several doors and windows across the front. Four motor vehicles and a horse and wagon are parked at the front of the building. Three people can be seen standing near the vehicles. A dirt road and grass are in the foreground. Tall trees are in the background on the far right-hand side of the image. The following is printed at the top and the bottom of the photocopied image: “Grading and packing apples at Somerville packing shed. Hastings Cool Stores”.
