HISTORY

This man is Jack A. Babington. He lived at 148 Coolart Road, Hastings. He was a Councillor and served as Shire President for three terms from 1960 to 1989. He was also a Justice of the Peace. He opened a small hardware store in 1946 and in 1958, with his wife Norma, opened the first self-service hardware and grocery store on the Western Port side of the Mornington Peninsula.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows the portrait of an elderly man, taken from the chest up. He is wearing a dark coloured coat and vest, white shirt and dark coloured tie. A badge is pinned to the left lapel of his coat. His grey hair is thinning and he has a slight smile on his face.
