HISTORY

This postcard shows an early scene in High Street, the main street in Hastings. It is one of several scenes of the Mornington Peninsula in The Rose Series. The following is written in blue biro on the back of the postcard: “1940 Pop, You mentioned whether the hotel had changed well this photo was taken about 3 years ago. you will notice a change in the Main street also.” The following is stamped on the back of the postcard: “Post card A real Photograph Produced in Australian”.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a street scene. A hotel is on the corner on the right hand side and shop fronts can be seen lining both sides of the street. Motor cars are parked on either side of the street and a light coloured car can be seen driving towards the camera. The following is printed across the bottom of the photograph: “The Rose Series P. 13940 High Street, Hastings, Vic.”.
