HISTORY

This man is James Francis Egan, a mounted policeman at Hastings from 1921 until 1932. He was born at Miepoll, near Euroa, on 28/08/1891, the eldest of nine children to James and Catherine (nee Crowe). He married Terese Burns at the Catholic Church in North Brunswick. James died in about 1959. Even though James is photographed on a white horse, whilst he was the Mounted Policeman at Hastings, he did not have a white horse so this photo may have been taken in Melbourne.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a man in a police uniform sitting on a white horse, posing for a photo. A white painted post and rail fence is behind them. Part of a three story brick building is in the background. Grasses and shrubs are behind the fence.
