HISTORY

This woman is Mary Alden (nee Newcombe). She is the wife of Albert John Alden. They were married in 1889. They had a son Albert Allan, born 1891 and a daughter Joy Mary, born 1893. Albert John was a councillor in the Hastings Shire Council. They lived at “Little London”, Mornington Road, Tyabb. Her grand daughter was Edna Gray (nee Benton).

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a portrait of a woman, taken from the waist up. She is wearing a dark coloured dress with pleats at the shoulder and white tips on the end of her collar. She has a string of beads around her neck. Her grey hair is swept up and she appears to have a small hat on the back of her head. She has a slight smile on her face. She is looking away from the camera.
