This man’s identity is unknown but the photo comes from the Mary Oliver Collection. The following is written on the back of the photo in black ink: “To Mary & Frank From your Old Pal Sticks.” ‘SELO’ is stamped on the back of the photograph.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a man in a white sailor’s uniform holding the two front legs of a calf. He is smiling for the camera. He is slightly crouched down on an open grassed area with tall palm trees behind him and large thick trees in the far background. Three other people, dressed in white, can be seen in the distance.
