HISTORY

The name of this man is not known. The following is written on the back in blue ink: “Taken in front of Auckland War Memorial Sept 1933”. This photograph comes from the Mary Oliver Collection.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows a sailor dressed in officer’s uniform, standing on the steps of a large building. His coat is slung over his left arm. Two large columns on the building can be seen behind the sailor, on the right-hand side of the image. A war memorial is behind him.
