HISTORYPrevious names ‘Clifden’ and ‘Clyde villa’. Dr Michael Barry commissioned the house to be built in 1869, calling it ‘Clifden’ after his birthplace in Ireland. It was renamed ‘Garrycloyne’ (’dale of beautiful trees’) by the Townsend family c1901
